Suitable indications
Where buccal fat removal can produce a real, durable improvement.
Round face shape
The classic indication — equal width and length, fullest at mid-cheek. Usually an excellent candidate, especially under 35.
Chubby cheeks
Persistent fullness despite being at a healthy weight — often the buccal fat pad is the dominant contributor.
Wide lower face
When the lower face appears wider than the upper, particularly in three-quarter view. Often combined with masseter Botox.
Asymmetric cheeks
When one cheek pad is meaningfully larger than the other. Partial resection on the larger side can rebalance.
Persistent baby fat
Young-adult patients (20–28) whose face has not slimmed naturally with age.
Post-weight-loss residual fullness
After major weight loss, the buccal fat pad often persists when other facial fat has shrunk. Caution: late-stage weight-loss patients may be poor candidates.
