Honest before-and-afters · what you should look for
Patient privacy and Turkish Ministry of Health regulations limit what we can publish on a public website. We share specific case photographs in private WhatsApp consultations after a photo assessment — this allows us to show cases that are anatomically similar to yours, with appropriate context.
When viewing any surgeon's before-after photos, check:
- Same lighting. Side lighting from above creates artificial cheek shadows that look like contour change.
- Same angle. Tilting the chin down narrows the lower face in any photo without surgery.
- Same expression. A neutral resting face looks fuller than a slight smile that engages the masseter.
- Time elapsed. A '3-week after' photo still has residual swelling that can either flatter or distort the result. Genuine final results are at 3–6 months.
- Realistic ageing. Most galleries show 25-year-olds. The same surgery on a 40-year-old looks meaningfully different.
Realistic before-and-after expectations
A well-performed buccal fat removal produces:
- A subtler hollowing of the mid-cheek — not a dramatic chiselling
- Slightly more visible cheekbone definition (more pronounced in some patients than others)
- A subtly narrower lower face when viewed straight-on
- Minimal change to the profile view in most patients
It does not typically produce:
- A complete reshaping of the face
- Visible "model-like" cheekbones if you didn't have an underlying cheekbone structure to reveal
- A change in jaw shape (that's masseter Botox or jaw contouring, not buccal fat)
- A change to the cheek skin texture or quality
